The fifty to sixty percent load of the deload week is calculated from the working weight of the preceding block — not from the maximum load ever achieved. A trainee whose intensification block deadlift working weight was eighty kilograms deloads at forty to forty-eight kilograms. This ensures the deload week provides genuine physiological recovery from the preceding block's loading stimulus rather than merely a lighter version of the same training that does not adequately reduce accumulated fatigue.

Life interruptions displace blocks, not cycles

A week of illness, travel, or any interruption that prevents training displaces the current block rather than ending the cycle. Return to training at the point where the interruption occurred — if the interruption was in week three of an accumulation block, return at week three with an eighty percent load reduction and build back to working weights across one to two sessions. The periodisation cycle continues from where it was interrupted. It is not restarted from the beginning because of a single week's absence.

The training log tracks blocks, not just sessions
