Lower Abdominal Exercises

by Rogen

I did some lower abdominal exercises lying on the floor with my hands over my head holding the steel bar. Trying to lift my two legs towards my head, the result was pain in my lower left abdominal. Please help. Thanks.

To understand what happened, the legs raises exercise can be dangerous for a number of reasons: most commonly, poor technique is to blame; or lack of strength; or incompatible body structure - and oftentimes, it may be any combination of the above.

A better solution, is to select an abs exercise that you can perform safely like the elbow bridge plank.

The elbow bridge plank is one of the best abdominal exercises for beginners, as it targets the core muscles - the stomach, hips, back, etc. Why is this so important?
