How to Lift More Than Double Your Body Weight

The verdict is in: deadlifts are a brute for building raw power and strength.

How effective is this monster movement?

Coach Barry Ross uses the deadlift exercise with all his sprint athletes to increase speed and build strength, and the results are remarkable!

Get this: nearly ALL his athletes (including women), can lift more than DOUBLE their body weight without straps, and all have gained less than 10% additional body weight to get there.

And the most amazing part?

These figures were achieved with less than 15 minutes of lifting time per week!

Here is a look at three of his athletes that will make your jaw hit the floor:

  • His best female multi-event athlete has deadlifted 405 lbs at a body weight of 130 lbs.
  • His top female distance runner has deadlifted 380 lbs at a body weight of 140 lbs.
  • His youngest male lifter, 11 years old, has deadlifted 225 lbs at a body weight of 107 lbs.
However, a word of caution: if you don't want to add bulk, you might have to dial your deadlift repetitions back. This would mean, instead of one set of 20 reps, you would perform 2-3 sets of 2-3 reps at 85-95% of your 1 Rep Max.
